Blog #89: Birthday Pt. 1

As much as I love doing huge birthdays for my friends, I always feel a little weird having a huge birthday celebration for myself. That being said, my unique and truly wonderful friends here wouldn't take that for an answer, so my birthday has turned into an entire two-day event. Even though today wasn't really my birthday, I got three birthday cakes, accompanied of course each time by an embarrassingly loud public rendition of "Happy Birthday" (even once in Spanish..?). Along with that, my incredible friend Ally, who I am so honored to even know, randomly texted me tonight asking me what time it is, because she wanted to tell me happy birthday exactly when my birthday began at midnight (and the time change between us is freaking weird, yo). What I didn't know is that Ally also wrote an entire blog post dedicated to me, and let me tell you, it made me laugh out loud. Posted exactly at midnight my time, Ally's blog post for me was filled with inside jokes that literally caused me to crack up alone in my room, remembering the dumb but hilarious things we have been through together in the past couple of years. Along with this, her blog post made me tear up. How lucky am I to have a friend who would write an entire blog post dedicated to me, let alone make sure to post it at exactly the minute my birthday begins, even though we're on opposite sides of the world? I'm telling you, everyone deserves a friend like Ally, but I'm the lucky one who gets the original Ally. Thanks, my dude.
