Tonight I got to wear my traditional saree for the first time, thanks to my professor inviting me to her ring ceremony (the equivalent of an engagement party).

Of course, wearing our sarees called for a photoshoot to commemorate the night, and dozens of pictures were taken (shout-out to Leeann and Lizzy!).

We paraded around in our sarees, probably visibly clumsily, and faced 'Curry Cleanse Round 2,' as we gorged ourselves on a dozen different dishes,

served to us on a traditional banana leaf.

Additionally, it's International Women's Day, and although I like to celebrate women every single day of the year, it's nice to have one day that is extra special for us. Shoutout to my ladies, whether you're wearing sarees or sweatpants, dresses or tuxedoes. We are unique but incredible in innumerable ways.

And to the persistent patriarchy; f*ck you. Saree not saree.
