Blog #35: Sad Music

Am I sad because I listen to sad music?

Or do I listen to sad music because I’m sad?

And by the way

What is sad music?

I know there are melancholy chords

And the poetry that joins them

Lines a river of tears

But normally

I would enjoy the beauty of the melancholy

I would take a dip in the river

And come out as exuberant as before

Refreshed for having done so

It is when I listen to those melancholy chords

And find myself stuck in that river

Unable to get out, even if I tried

Which I don't

It is then that I know

I’m not listening to sad music

I’m just sad
