"We should FaceTime ________!" has been a well-worn exclamation in the last few days. Fill in the blank with any number of people we spent time with in India, and it will have been met with excitations and agreements.
Dr. Chakraborty was one of the top persons on this list, as she was such an influential part of all of our experiences in India. She is truly something special.
We all gave updates on our lives, all of which were met with genuine and enthusiastic support by the four women listening. I've never seen the notion of women supporting women embodied more beautifully than with this group of women I'm lucky to currently be surrounded by, and it's a feeling yet to be matched. It's one thing to have a close friend or two you can rely on for support (which, don't get me wrong, is something I'm very lucky and grateful to have), but to have so many women sit around and support each other as they talk about their educational/career accomplishments as well as their emotional growth is just an incredible experience.
The FaceTime reunion with Dr. Chakraborty made me reflect on how grateful I am for all of the important women in my life, and I'm lucky to have so many who support me and help me grow. I literally get chills when I think about the powerful women I'm supported by.
Empowered women empower women.
