I was never one of those kids who got their hair cut by their mom at home— even having her trim my bangs was kind of an out-of-the-ordinary occasion.

As I got older, I started feeling more at liberty to mess with my hair at home. (Actually, this started with Mariel feeling more at liberty to mess with my hair— there are stories of Tide bleach pens, glitter watercolors, purple box dye, and more...) I've bleached my hair with the help of Ally, cut my own bangs, dyed it quite a few times, etc. I've even cut/dyed/bleached other people's hair, including the entire Morningside soccer team for some reason.

Given this, along with our current hairstyle, Ally and I figured we'd look for some clippers to see if we could cut our hair ourselves. Sure enough, Target had an entire haircutting kit for less than the price of one haircut! With that, barber Ally and barber Kailyn were born.

With a chair in our bathtub and our haircutting kit all laid out, I was the first to sit down in our home salon for a trim. Ally did a heck of a job, but there was so much hair I almost choked on a hairball. After shaping it up we switched places, and I gave Ally the exact same haircut as me.

It's pretty shocking how much our hair grew in just the last two weeks, but with our new kit we'll be able to trim it up whenever we please. This is so nice because it saves us so much money, loads of time, and it's eco-friendly! (At least that's what we tell everyone; we no longer have any shampoo or conditioner bottles lying around, plus it takes a lot less time in the shower, which saves water!) Anyway I just think everyone should get this haircut, plus it's only $7 at the Ally and Kailyn Home Salon. ;)
