We all know Iowa is a great place to be for politics, maybe just because I've said it 100 times. Today was more evidence of that, as Julián Castro, a democratic presidential candidate, came to visit campus.

After speaking for a bit, Castro answered a few questions. I asked him about his proposed foreign policy in Latin America, which is one of his main talking points in congruence with immigration policy. As he claims, the two issues are far from separate, and our foreign policy can help solve many of the immigration issues we currently have. I asked for more details on his plans and how he would avoid the past mistakes of American foreign policy in Latin America.

Pictured below, you can see me chatting with Julián about foreign policy.

Just kidding. He thanked me for my question and then Ally and I took a picture with him.

Still, it's always fun to meet a presidential candidate, and I can now add Julián Castro to the list.
