Let's be honest... there's not a lot to do here in Sioux City.

We have a few coffee shops, a couple cool restaurants, and a museum about... Sioux City.

Now don't get me wrong, the local Orpheum Theatre is nice, and sometimes cool events are happening there. Occasionally there are concerts or other events going on downtown. Yet, on a casual Sunday afternoon with the family, there's just not a whole lot.

That said, I had to figure out something to do with Gavin and Mom today. What's a girl to do when she can't think of anything else? Coffee shops.

I didn't just take Gavin and my mom to the Stone Bru on Gordon where I work, I also drove them all the way out to Dunes Bru to show it off to them. I've never even worked a shift there, and it will be rare that I do, but what else was I going to show them?

With plenty of coffee in our systems, we then went grocery shopping for me, and finally out to a late lunch. Unintentionally, every single thing I did with them this weekend revolved around food and/or drink. Uncoincidentally, basically all of these were places I did or do work at. Trust me when I say I've put my time in with the food industry.

In the end, it wasn't so much what we did that mattered, but rather the company. I was just happy to spend some time with Gavin and Mom, and I hope they would say the same about me.
