Today marks the day of The Dal Disaster of 2019.

"What is The Dal Disaster of 2019?" you may ask.

Please, allow me to enlighten you.

The Dal Disaster of 2019 was a historic day in the life of Kailyn Robert, and one that neither she, nor those around her, may soon forget. In an honest attempt to make her own dal, one of her favorite Indian dishes, Kailyn had to use a pressure cooker. She underwent this task whilst also preparing other dishes she could eat throughout the upcoming week, and accordingly was somewhat distracted. Upon thinking that her dal would be finished, Kailyn eagerly went to open her pressure cooker.

In her hurry, Kailyn forgot to release the steam, and hence the built up pressure, from the cooker. This was her fateful mistake.

Kailyn opened the cooker to a thundering boom. The dal exploded before her eyes. Quinoa reached the furthest corners of the kitchen; no surface was spared. Almost immediately, tears streamed down Kailyn's face from laughing so hard, and as her body convulsed with laughter, the dal simply sat there mocking her.

Despite Kailyn's genuine attempt to clean the mess, remnants of the infamous quinoa dal can still be found throughout the kitchen, and will likely be found far into the future. These remnants will serve as a reminder to Kailyn that sometimes it is necessary to laugh at oneself. In fact, it can be quite fun.

These remnants will also serve as a reminder to release the steam from the pressure cooker before opening it next time.

*Nobody was harmed in The Dal Disaster of 2019, except Kailyn's ego, a little."
