Today, quite remarkably, my friend Rachel and I accomplished a major feat; we actually went for coffee after vowing to "get coffee and catch up" for a couple weeks.

This is groundbreaking news, people!

I cannot count the number of times I've said "Oh my gosh, we have to grab coffee sometime and catch up!" I'll probably say it twice tomorrow. On the contrary, I can count the number of times (at least in recent history) I've actually followed through with this: once.

I am not the only one guilty of this, I know that for a fact. Life just gets hectic and it's easy to push those things off. Still, in case anyone needs a reminder (myself included), actually go for that coffee. It's important.

Rachel studies accounting and business, two things I'm grateful I don't, so we never have classes together. She's the head resident in the dorm farthest from mine, so we don't pass each other in the laundry room or on our way to class. We're not even in any clubs together, making it virtually impossible to run into each other without planning on it. Still, Rachel's a great person and a friend I want to keep around, so she's worth the effort.

We talked and laughed and maybe made a scene in the coffee shop for an hour, and it was so nice. I'm not one for getting up any earlier than I have to for class, but hearing about what's been going on in Rachel's life for the past nine months or so made me grateful I rolled out of bed.

So yeah, I'm not saying we're heroes or anything, but... Rachel and I accomplished a pretty major task today. Your awe and congratulations are welcome.
