If you're a regular on the blog, you may have noticed that I've changed it up a bit! The color scheme is darker (more sleek, in my opinion), the blog posts don't auto-load (so you can actually scroll to the bottom of the site without 170 posts popping up), and I finally wrote an 'About' page! Seeing as this blog is a little unique, and newcomers may not understand the concept, I figured it was about time I put a bit of an explanation out there. The 'About' page reads:
If you're uncertain exactly what this blog is about, join the club. 'I'm Not in Kansas (or Iowa) Anymore!' started as a personal challenge to write a blog post every single day for a month to help me be more present and better remember my time in Bangalore, India. Writing every day became therapeutic at times and obligatory at others, but when the end of the month came around, I couldn't make myself stop. I love a good challenge, so I decided I would try to write a blog post every single day for an entire year.
So, if nothing else, I'm Not in Kansas is an honest glimpse into the day-to-day life of a midwest college girl trying to find her way. It's personal, with the tendency to be funny, ridiculous, and hopefully thought-provoking at times. In other words, it's me. It's Kailyn.
I think if people didn't know the concept of the year-long everyday blog writing challenge, my blog would be an incredibly boring and unnecessary compilation of seemingly endless posts. Instead, with the knowledge of what it is, they can understand that it's a boring and unnecessary compilation of seemingly endless posts with a purpose!
Really though, 170 posts in, I thought maybe it was time to get a little more serious about the blog. I'm not going to start advertising or writing blogs about what I think people want to hear instead of what I want to talk about, but making it more accessible and providing some clarity seemed like a decent change to make. I hope everyone likes the changes, and as always, thanks for tagging along on this journey with me!
P.S. This title comes from every cereal box in my childhood that changed its design and found it necessary to write "New look, same great taste!" as if we thought Honey Nut Cheerios somehow tasted drastically different every time they put a new word search on the back of the box.
