It is so important to be able to laugh at yourself, because at some point in time, we're all idiots. I'm an idiot quite often, and frankly, that would be exhausting if I weren't able to laugh it off.

Today was the idiot moment of all idiot moments for me. I will keep the story short, as it is best told in person. Confining it to a blog post simply wouldn't do it justice. If you'd like to hear it in its full effect, ask me sometime.

And so, long story short, I locked my keys in my car (which was parked safely in the garage and didn't need to be locked anyway), I called AAA to come help me bust in, and I was an absolute buffoon the whole time the guy was there helping me.

I cannot stress enough how much of an idiot I was being... I'm sure I made my way onto his top five dumbest/funniest customers list, and with good reason.

By the time I was back in my car and on my way to work, I couldn't help but just laugh hysterically. I was such an idiot, but it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I had to tell Mariel and Ally (and later my mom) about it, because I knew the hilarity had to be shared. I had the option to let it go and never tell another soul... but that would be such a waste of an embarrassing situation!

So yeah, I'm not always great at laughing at myself. In fact, for the majority of my life, I've found it nearly impossible. I took myself way too seriously for way too long, and I have no idea why. That said, I've learned that laughing at yourself is maybe one of the best remedies to get through life. It's inevitable that we're all going to be embarrassing time and again, so we just as well get a good laugh out of it instead of trying to avoid the unavoidable.
