As much as I love being spontaneous, I'm also a person who often craves a routine.
Actually... let me try that again.
I'm a person who likes the thought of a routine, and a person who likes to create a routine she will follow through with for a week before she's bored with it already. And that's the tea!
I really love the idea of laying out a new routine, so I have literally, for months, been looking forward to creating a new routine to pair with my new life in Chicago. In my head, it involved waking up an hour earlier to do yoga before work, taking Zumba classes after work three days a week, cooking dinner and reading a book in the evening, then going to sleep at a decent time in order to wake up early and start it all again.
To begin with, I can guarantee that I have not gotten up early to do yoga the last two days. I have most definitely snoozed my alarm until the last second and groggily made myself a cup of coffee, hating myself for willingly entering into an agreement which would require me to be awake before 7am.
That said, today was the closest I came to my imaginary routine, coming home from work and immediately going out for a run in the beautiful weather, then coming back and making a healthy dinner, followed by me sitting outside and starting the book that's on the top of my reading list. Let me tell you, the first-day-of-a-routine-high is a good one.
Who knows if this routine will stick. Actually, I doubt it will. I'll be too busy exploring the city with Sofia and Jolson to stick to a workout schedule or something like that. But, at least for now, I'll let myself daydream about the beautiful routine ahead of me.
