Today we packed up the car and drove all the way to Chicago. When we left, I had no idea where I was going to live. After a couple hours on the road, and thanks to the generosity of friends through friends, I have a place for the next couple of months. Despite how much I hate asking for help, it was also reassuring to know that so many people were more than willing to give me a hand when I needed it most.
So, with that taken care of, the drive became suddenly much less stressful and everyone felt considerably more at ease. YAS!
Also, instead of a stressful weekend house hunting, I can now spend a fun weekend with my family in Chicago doing whatever we want. YAS!
We started the fun weekend at a Korean BBQ place, which was the first time for all of us. We were literally the only white people in the (full) restaurant for the whole time we were there, and our server thankfully took notice and walked us through everything. I must say it was quite an adventurous meal for the whole Robert family (minus Mariel), but it was really good! YASSS!
Here's to the beginning of a couple months in Chi-Town, Baby.
